While Scott Coyne held the title of Vice President for University of Illinois this past season, that was just one of his many positions. We knew him as team jump coach, equipment expert, 4th event champion, and so many more. Scott made an incredible impact on our team and the MCWSA as a whole throughout his 4 years, especially as a senior leader on a very young team. Ask any team in our region what Scott has done for them, and you will almost definitely get an impactful answer. He brought unmatched energy and passion to the lake every practice and tournament. Every Illinois skier off the dock, and many from other schools as well, were sent off with shouts of encouragement from Scott. Our team was lucky to have his love of the sport and his supportive attitude, which have created an amazing team culture and legacy.
Brandon McAllister added 30+ feet to his
jump PB this year, becoming the first Illini in the century club in a very long time. While on this journey, he had multiple close calls, although he viewed them as great sends. At regionals, after breaking 100 for the first time, he skied close to the dock going out for his final jump and shouted “Get the ambulance ready” before sending a massive 108 foot PB.
