What skier has been the most supportive over the past year? Maybe they helped carry jumpers down the lake for every skier on your team. Or possibly helped coach and drive practice all season?

Be sure to tell us why you think your nomination should be selected!

This past season, Katie Harvat was honored with the role of Vice President of Miami Waterski, playing a pivotal role in the team’s behind-the-scenes operations. Despite the often unseen nature of her contributions, Katie’s impact extended both on and off the water. With unwavering enthusiasm, Katie personally sent off each new member from the dock, providing pep talks and extending a warm welcome to every individual joining the team. Beyond this, her commitment to the support she offered to our team and others in the Midwest. During the season, Katie picked every skier up after their runs regardless of how well their run went. She was always there to lift every skier, irrespective of being on A or B. Her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment within the waterski community.

While Scott Coyne held the title of Vice President for University of Illinois this past season, that was just one of his many positions. We knew him as team jump coach, equipment expert, 4th event champion, and so many more. Scott made an incredible impact on our team and the MCWSA as a whole throughout his 4 years, especially as a senior leader on a very young team. Ask any team in our region what Scott has done for them, and you will almost definitely get an impactful answer. He brought unmatched energy and passion to the lake every practice and tournament. Every Illinois skier off the dock, and many from other schools as well, were sent off with shouts of encouragement from Scott. Our team was lucky to have his love of the sport and his supportive attitude, which have created an amazing team culture and legacy.

Megan Fischette is grand valleys mens captain. Since megan joined as a freshmen she’s always been the most positive skier and teammate. She continuously supports each person on our team no matter if someone didn’t ski their best or if they PBd. She is always the first person to support you no matter what.

On behalf of the freshman skiers from Grand Valley I can say that one of the most motivational and supportive skiers on GV ski is Megan. Even if we didn’t have our best ski, trick, or jump run she would always support us with positive comments and advice to keep our heads up. An example of her supportive acts would have to be at the beginning of regionals when she wrote all the active skiers on GV a note card containing positive advice and supportive comments to get them ready for competition. Overall she is a very positive individual and should be recognized for her support to the Lakers.

    Kincaid Devenport

Kincaid from gvsu brought such good energy to our team. He spent hours every day driving the boat for our practices, and he dedicated that time fully to bettering the team. Whether that practice, you needed coaching or just a laugh, you could always count on him. His role on our team was especially important since he was running practice the most. He created a positive environment and picked us up if we were discouraged on a bad day. He welcomed our new members and made them better skiers with his patience in practice and positive attitude. He was at every tournament and stayed to support every skier. He was there to send us off the dock with our song or motivation and met us after to grab our skies no matter how we skied. He was a consistently good teammate throughout the whole season!

    Ryan Grieser
Ryan from SIU was one of the most supportive skiers on our team this year. He is a sophomore and was voted to be our present at the end of the fall season because of his awesome support and leadership on the team. He was always up for the early skiers and helping them focus in on what their goals were for the day. Showing up and exemplifying patience to the new members was really encouraging and helped bring everyone closer together. I have literally never seen him miss/not pay attention to one of our skiers. Ryan rocks!

    Ryan Grieser

Ryan helped every skier from SIU. At every tournament or practice he would always help carry equipment and cheer on his team. He would make sure they were up before they had to ski early in the morning. He would ask them what they wanted to accomplish at that tournament, and give the best advice he could to help them achieve that goal. Everytime someone beat a personal best he would be the first one running to congratulate them. Ryan would also congratulate other teams when they achieved their goals. He truly is one of a kind!
