ParticipantMandy Lawson is one of the hardest workers I know not only in the collegiate world, but in AWSA as well. She’s always willing to help, and always goes out of her way to make sure she does everything right and is always asking to help. She’s one of the few people I know that worked extremely hard to blaze through ratings so she can do more at tournaments. She was my Chief Safety at LA Night Jam this year, and I couldn’t have done that without her help. She also stepped in to help safety night jump at collegiate nationals when our chief safety wanted to go night jumping (I don’t blame her one bit, we had a blast).
Mandy is always looking for her next position to continue to help to ski community. She’s always willing to lend a helping hand and encourages everyone to do more for the ski community. This year alone, Mandy has been your Great Plains conference chair, working with other teams to accomplish successful seasons. She worked throughout her own team completing the logistic duties and helping run practices. And Mandy is always, always working on a tournament. She’s judged, scored, and been the safety for many tournaments including the Missouri State tournament, conference championship, NCWSA nationals, and Night Jam! The season wouldn’t run smoothly without Mandys hard work! We love you Mandy!

ParticipantThe Mandator has been one of the most dedicated workers in water skiing and collegiate skiing alike. If you don’t know Mandy Lawson, she is always busy in one way or another. Either helping the team, helping coach practice even though she couldn’t ski herself, or always doing some sort of judging or scoring. Her help is one of the biggest reasons why tournaments run smoothly. She was the Tournament Director for Husker Ripfest in the fall, creating the largest waterski tournament hosted in Nebraska. She’s worked tirelessly on ratings she got her assistant scorers, judges, and safety ratings. She is currently sitting one tournament and one test away from getting her regulars (which is a feat and a half if you haven’t tried to get yours). Even though she wasn’t able to ski this fall because she had multiple torn ligaments and required surgery post season, she still put herself in the ski to slalom at Regionals. Because she skied and put-up huge team points, she emphasized Nebraska’s first ever ticket punched to the Nationals tournament. At Nationals she skied again, also putting up big slalom points for the ladies. We don’t deserve the selfless dedication of this crazy woman and are forever thankful she’s a Husker!

ParticipantWill Howard joined Nebraska Water Ski in the fall and had never skied a course before, but during the season this vibe monster was out ripping the course on the Big Daddy making 5 passes at conference starting at 21 and going up to 3@ 28 mph! Not only is he already slaloming like a pro but he’s also putting out 44ft jumps! We are psyched to have a freshy that’s as cool as a cucumber on and off the water! Next stop is to put Sir Slicky on a trick ski.

ParticipantWe all know him, the man, the myth, the one who just cut off his mullet, Daniel Murdy. Not only is Dan successful on the water, but he never stops putting in work for our team. A leader with more knowledge about skiing and boats than anyone ever needs to know. The go-to man for any question great or small, and is consistently reached out to by not only by teammates but others also in and out of our Region. Daniel ran the Nebraska Ski Team as President for 2 years and was Great Plains Chairman for another 2 years. Our team wouldn’t be the same without the incredible amount of work that he has put into this club day in and day out! Thank you so much Dan!

ParticipantSam Weber is a freshman this year at Nebraska and has already managed to break every single record for our team. The Slalom god managed to put up huge scores all season long and is incredibly consistent. Putting up scores of 4 @35 off in slalom, 1,790 points in trick, and booting a 103 foot jump, this freshman deserves some recognition. Although our team didn’t qualify for nationals, this beast managed to win overall at the Midwest Regionals Championship winning 2 out of 3 events individually. Stoked doesn’t even describe how pumped we are to have Sam on our team!

ParticipantMandy Lawson is a freshman transfer and just joined Nebraska this Spring. Not only has she immediately stepped in asking how she can help out the team in any way possible. As a freshman she took over the presidency at Mo-State not only building the team but hosting tournaments and running practices! This woman is extremely dedicated to this sport and will do anything to make it thrive with her positive attitudes and helpfulness toward others! We are so happy to have her as a part of our Husker Family and can’t wait to see what she brings to our team over the next 3 years!

ParticipantMarky Mark Anderson–Nebraska
Marky Mark has put so much work into building this team and truly making it what it is today. He’s worked tirelessly to make sure that everything that the team needed for any event was ready to go and complete so we could travel with ease. He knows an abundance about the ski community and the people within it and brings all of his ski knowledge to practice with him so that he can build up his team. He brings out the real slothiness in everyone and makes everyone who joins the team feel included and welcome and he never stops!
Not only that but he’s an amazing skier and has really shown his skills this last year! He’s put so much work into his ski life, working every summer at Bennetts and bringing what he has learned there to our skiers back in Nebraska. So proud of what he has done for the team and the legacy he has left for others to follow! -
