KeymasterThe precision required to jump into the century club means that any error can be disastrous. A popular saying among collegiate skiers is “One for the team. One for yourself. And one for the hospital.”
Who took this to heart and had some of the scariest jumps this year? Videos and photos highly recommended!

ParticipantAs a team Nebraska would like to nominate Skyler Davis for this award. Skyler took “aim for white and hope for red” literally this season.

ParticipantI would like to nominate McKenna Quincer from SIU.
She has had incredible determination with jumping. She is the only person I’ve seen had to be carried out of the water on a stretcher for full sending a jump.January 23, 2023 at 3:04 pm #55369Joey Gilroy
ParticipantJJ Mascadri (Miami)
You might know JJ Mascadri as the wakeboarder who 3/4s. This past year, he was Miami’s 5th round jumper, hitting mid-80s consistently, and PBing at 89ft. He fully embodied the cut-later, jump further mentality that is all over collegiate skiing. Most importantly for this award, JJ has two reckless jumping stories. First, at Great Lakes Conference, he sent a jump too hard and snapped his wakeboard on the landing, his team managed to get him a new board in under 3 minutes, and he jumped 89ft on the next one. Second, at Regionals this past year, JJ was genuinely aiming for 100ft, took a cut that was WAY too late, and did hit the side curtain.Every team has someone who is likely to hit the side curtain, but this year I only know of one person who actually did it.

ParticipantJoey (JJ) Mascadri has hit the side curtain attempting an 100 foot jump on a wakeboard. He has even broken a wakeboard on a jump before, but he went on to using someone else’s to hit his PB of 89ft.

ParticipantI would like to nominate myself. My team (SIU) has multiple running jokes about how bad I am at jumping. Just this year at competitions, I have been pulled out of the water on a backboard in Nebraska and then hit a superman pose after being airborne 2 times in 1 jump at regionals (where I popped 5 ribs out of place).

ParticipantI nominate Mitchel Kudronowicz aka “Kujo”. Kujo had the biggest sends on the UW-Madison team. As the team watched Kujo, we were always proclaiming “He is LATE”. Every jump set with Kujo was absolutely electric. We never knew if he was going to come out unscathed or with an epic jump. He brought amazing energy to the event while putting up big scores and even bigger crashes.

ParticipantI would like to nominate Joey (JJ) Mascadri from Miami U. He is a wakeboarder who jumps with a PB of 89 ft. At Regionals this past year, JJ literally hit the side curtain after cutting way to late on a 3/4 cut. He ended up jumping again after hitting the curtain and landing mid-80s.

ParticipantI would like to nominate Joey (JJ) Mascadri from Miami of Ohio. JJ is a wakeboarder who stuck to his passion of jumping on a wakeboard, jumping with a PB this year of 89 ft at the Great Lakes Conference Championship. JJ actually did hit the side curtain after having a late 3/4 cut at regionals. He ended up jumping again and landing in the mid 80s. JJ also snapped his wakeboard in half this season and still went on to take another jump on a board he had never jumped on before.

ParticipantI would like to nominate Mike Hammond from UWL. I think each person that was at the tournaments with us can now paint a picture of this kid just doing his own thing to say the least. Aiming for the ramp was a prayer we all hoped for.
