Who is most likely to continue skiing at the highest caliber of the sport and join the professional ski circuit post-college?
I would like to nominate Drew Budzynski. Most people go to college because they want a degree and happen to waterski. Drew goes to MSU to Waterski. No we do not offer scholarships, but Drew is here for the skiing. I don’t think there is someone who loves waterskiing more than Drew and I would not be shocked in the slightest if he ended up in the Pro-Circuit one day.
Rhett Bendure is most likely to go pro. Rhett’s rate of progress on the water is like nothing I’ve seen before. He became an incredible 3 event skier in less than 4 years. Rhett finished last year running 2 @35 off 36 mph. He made it on Miami’s record book for trick and slalom. He also tricked 1250 after just starting a few seasons ago. Rhett is definitely most passionate about slalom and I could see him going pro. He skis every day and has never turned down an opportunity to get through a course. Rhett has won most improved at the Miami Waterski banquet for the last 3 years. I think that is a testament to the kind of skier he is to be able to be the most improved every year.
Out of all the skiers I know, Jake Artang is definitely the most likely to go pro. It’s an easy choice; He’s a phenomenal all around skier, and he continually shocks both himself and our team with massive PB’s. Jake landed his second in-tournament flip at 2024 nationals, and decided to throw the reverse, which he had never even landed, for fun. He landed the reverse on his first try, adding 1000 points to his trick pb in about 5 seconds. . Jake has a drive for self-improvement, a real love for the sport of waterskiing, and a natural talent could absolutely lead him to go pro.
