KeymasterWhile pure on-the-water talent is something we’d all love to be blessed with, sometimes it takes painful fall after painful fall to make progress as a skier. On top of that, the only way we can all enjoy the benefits of tournament weekends is due to the work that team captains, coaches, board members put in each and every season.
Who did you see putting in the most effort for themselves or their team this year?

ParticipantAlex Graves from SIU perfectly embodies the role of Hardest Worker and I think he is well deserving of this award. Year after year, Alex is the hardest worker on our team and he does it without being asked. There are few people in the collegiate ski community as dedicated and passionate as Alex. SIU would be nowhere near where it’s at today without his endless devotion to the team. He continues to shock me by reaching out to new companies to get us free equipment (shout-out s-lines!), taking endless sets to improve his skiing, and taking time to constantly fix our course and jump. Alex also works extremely hard to grow the camaraderie of our team, always planning nights out on the town or hockey games on the ponds around campus during the winter. The amount of work Alex has put into the team and his own skiing is well deserving of recognition, and I know he would be honored to be selected for this award.

ParticipantI would like to nominate Will Fiedler of MSU. When it comes to anything waterskiing Will is your guy. He tirelessly trains throughout the season, off season and goes above and beyond in the waterskiing community. Will is always working tirelessly to create relationships with everyone in the sport, I’m sure that you mention his name someone always has something good to say. Now why is he deserving of this award beyond hard training. Well, Will worked tireless hours this summer at Forest Lake to ensure that we had an excellent site to host Spartan Ripfest this year. He went above and beyond and his work often goes without praise. Beyond on that he also is our “boat guy” no body spends more time making sure that our boat, course and boat slip are in tip top shape. The endless number of oil changes, slight calibrations of the course, making sure that there everyone has access to ski and that the boat is in working order. He also, takes wonderful care of boat when we aren’t in season, spending hours detailing the boat and once again creating relationships with dealers to ensure we have a safe place to store our boat. I just think that the hard work he puts in is second to none in the region and Will is more than deserving of this award.

ParticipantI would like to nominate Lauren Connelly for the hardest worker award for everything that she does both on and off the water. On the water Lauren has made massive improvements in slalom and trick in the last year and continues to stomp jump after jump thanks to her dedication to the sport. When she’s not skiing Lauren is always driving, coaching, or doing jump or course maintenance. Lauren is the type of person who is always looking for something to get done and taking it on with immense enthusiasm. Lauren is our current club president and has to done an incredible job working to accomplish both long term and short term team goals. Whether its designing merch, logistical planning, organizing finances, or literally anything else that needs to get done Lauren is behind it. Lauren’s unwavering drive to grow and improve our team and to better the sport of water skiing is inspiring and she pushes everyone on the team to be the best that they can be every day. Lauren doesn’t do what she does for recognition and praise, but without a doubt, every member of our team believes she is more than deserving of this award.”
