Did they attend every tournament this season to help out as a judge/driver/cheerleader? Help coach during the day after day, week after week? Provide some necessary gear improvements?
What alumni did you see make the biggest impact for their team or the region in the Midwest this year?
January 16, 2022 at 2:54 am #53788Laney PetersonParticipantEvan Marcus- came to tournament and was always willing to step up when I had questions
January 16, 2022 at 3:44 am #53794Mandy LawsonParticipantSummer Lawson,
While Missouri state was working on restarting the program, Summer was supportive and always one phone call away. She showed up to do work around Lake Freddie while helping set up and tear down the tournament. She helped with safety during our first tournament and assisted any of the judges when it was necessary. She was always right onshore to cheer on skiers and help pull them out of the water. She was an outstanding helper for the Missouri State team.
January 16, 2022 at 6:05 am #53795Joey GilroyParticipantTyler Miller (Cincinnati class of 2017ish).
Tyler has been incredibly supportive of Great Lakes teams for years now. During the spring, summer, and fall he pulls and coaches skiers from all across Ohio, and more importantly makes sure they all have a blast whenever they’re in the water. He has also been Instrumental in helping collegiate teams do various Adaptive ski events across Ohio, giving teams an more opportunity to help others and connect with each other outside of the fall season.
In season, Tyler was a huge asset to tournaments in the Great Lakes. In a year where officials were hard to coke by, Tyler helped out driving and judging at every tournament, even taking shifts to drive practice at Van Wert, which notoriously runs until 4am on some weeks.

January 19, 2022 at 6:43 pm #53818Allie KutschParticipantNoah Lazzara (UW-Madison, graduating class of 2021) attended every tournament except Nationals and was the TC for these tournaments. On top of being the TC, he judged and drove. He was constantly there to help answer questions for new skiers & was a huge contributor to bringing boats down to tournaments. When we were short cars for Regionals, Noah offered to drive skies and a few skiers down to IL. Noah set up sets for our teammates to ski at a local private ski lake, which was incredible considering our boat’s engine seized a few weeks into the season. Noah has dedicated so much time to this sport and making sure it continues (and grows).
January 31, 2022 at 1:59 am #53843Anna PriorParticipantSeconding the nom for Tyler Miller!
He’s a UC alum, but helps OSU with EVERYTHING, which shows his dedication to Midwest skiing in general. We could not do what we do at our lake without Tyler. He is so knowledgeable about the ramp and course maintenance, and is crucial in helping our team keep those things nice. He also pulls our skiers, and drives and judges the tournaments every single weekend. He also literally TOWED OUR TRAILER to a tournament the weekend we didn’t have a truck. Does it get better than that?
