Keeping each team active and running properly takes a tremendous amount of effort from team captains. The paperwork, organization, and drama can be overwhelming.

What team captain has done an amazing job of helping grow their team and push them to success this past year?

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln would like to nominate Lucia Ossi as the best team captain. Lu took on the job last spring as our men’s team captain and never failed to show up to tournaments and practices. Lucia supported all of our guys on and off the water, from making sure they had their equipment to congratulating them after they skied.

Henry Vanfausien from Michigan state always encouraged people to perform at their best. He did so much work to help establish the team and create the fun and team success that all skiers love.

I would like to nominate Sean Freitag for SIU.

SIU has become an incredible team over the past recent years. This is Largely due the excellent work of Sean Freitag. He is a phenomenal skier, and president, and an even better friend. His hard work and patience has had an outstanding effect for our team.

I would like to nominate Mary Nelson for Miami U. She was always there for every skier (even after over-heating at Nationals and having to get some medical attention). She was at the lake practicing and coaching 4 out of the 5 days of the week during ski season. Mary is very dedicated to the Miami Team, is a phenomenal skier, and genuinely cares for every skiers success!!

I would like to nominate Zach Koone for best team captain. Zach was Michigan State’s women’s captain and he put his whole heart into supporting our women’s team. Zach focused on making sure the women’s team had the coaching they needed during practices as well as at tournaments. He put a lot of thought into the running orders so each of our skiers could perform to the best of their ability. Zach never missed a skier going off the dock and always made sure equipment was handled. Zach took on all the stress for our women’s team during the whole season so all that the women needed to worry about was skiing hard and having fun!
