Sage Stickley from Ohio State came in with little previous water ski experience and quickly proved that she had the courage, dedication, and athleticism to be an incredible jumper. She was our fifth round jumper even at the beginning of the season, despite competing for the spot against skiers with twice as much experience. When our team needed another trick skier, Sage picked it up almost as quickly as she learned to jump. Even when she was injured, she never faltered and performed at incredible levels.
Kathryn Miller from Ohio State put up great scores in all three events! She handled the pressure of being the women’s team’s best skier in two of three events incredibly well and even gave our fourth and fifth round jumpers a run for their money! Her consistency, versatility, and talent were crucial for our women’s team.
Anna Prior from Ohio State has contributed so much to our team on and off the water. She is the definition of supportive: always offering rides, organizing events, and making sure everyone felt welcome and excited to be skiing. At tournaments, she was always helping with something or seeing a skier off the dock! At practices she would help coach, drive, or offer encouragement. Her contribution to the team has been incredible!
Matt Kalbacher from Ohio State has been an amazing captain. Although he is technically only captain of the men’s team, he made a huge difference for both the men’s and women’s team. He is always supportive and willing to help anyone with their trick skiing or slaloming. His responsibility in making sure everyone is up and where they need to be was so important to our team. We would not have been able to have a successful season without his leadership!
